ST-PAUL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

In 1873, many Presbyterian Scottish immigrants settled in Scotstown. They first build St. Andrew in 1881-1882. When St. Andrew church joins the United church of Canada in 1925, a group of independent dissidents is formed and has St. Paul church built in 1926-1927 and its presbytery in 1928, which will be sold in 1991. At the time, Mass was celebrated alternately between Gaelic and English. In 1930, a community hall made of wood was built behind St. Paul, but it was demolished in 1988. Masses are still celebrated in this church and the presbytery is still inhabited. It is located at 42, Albert Street.
